Spring is finally here and the entire Guthrie family is finally spending more time outside in the sunshine. We enjoy spending time together as a family, walking our dogs Snickers & Easton during the warm spring days. When the children were little one of the biggest challenges we found, while walking our dogs, was maneuvering the dog leashes around the pram or stroller wheels.

 

When we has our oldest daughter we had no clue what we needed, so we bought a hugely over priced & oversized pram. It was almost impossible to go for a walk without stopping to untangle the dog’s leashes from the pram wheels. When our second daughter came along,  we gave up on strollers all together and used baby carriers. Our problem then became making sure the baby did not fall into the dog poop as we scooped our pups poop.

How you can make a difference

As we all know, a new year is fast approaching. While the roll over to January 1 means nothing on a geological time scale, it does mean something on the human scale. It’s a new beginning where we are hopeful we can improve on the previous year’s shortcomings.

My fellow team member and I were brainstorming ways that we could promote sustainable living in the New Year. We didn’t want to run your typical resolution campaign, so we have a different type of challenge for you that we’re calling The TELUS 31 Day Sustainability Challenge. That’s right. We want you to consciously participate in one sustainable action for 31 days and then share it with us via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using #31DaysOfGreen. You can participate with your family, get your co-workers involved or go all in solo. We’ll be providing you with helpful tips everyday starting January 1, 2014, but we want you to share your actions and ideas as well.

It’s easy, just sign up for the challenge and join us in a more environmentally conscious month, that will hopefully lead to better practices going forward for all of us.

The contest and content are interesting. Each day @Telus, using the #31DaysofGreen hashtag, tweets a daily green tip or trick. The tweets encourage community involvement by tweeting your own personal green tips. A simplistic idea that is also good for the environment with a smattering of prizes thrown in for good measure.

Starbucks Canada Twitter Party Contest Terms and Conditions

ELIGIBILITY

No purchase necessary to participate. The Starbucks Canada Twitter Contest (“Contest”) is open to all legal residents of Canada who have reached the age of 19 years at the time of entry. Employees, representatives or agents (and those with whom such persons are domiciled, whether related or not) of Starbucks (the “Sponsor”), or its subsidiaries, affiliates, distributors, prize suppliers, advertising or promotion agencies and the Contest judges (collectively, the “Contest Parties”) are not eligible to participate.

This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Twitter. Twitter is completely released of all liability from each entrant in this Contest. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest must be directed to the Contest Parties and not Twitter.

ENTRY PERIOD

HOW TO ENTER

Current Twitter users enter by participating during the entry period. You can only win one prize during the party. Answers can be posted on Twitter and posting a Tweet during the Entry Period with the hashtag #BlondeRoast. The #BlondeRoast hashtag must be included in every valid entry. You can only use one (1) Twitter account to enter the Contest. The Contest Parties are not responsible for late, lost, misdirected, delayed, incomplete or incompatible entries. The Sponsor may disqualify an entrant for any reason, in its sole discretion.

WINNER SELECTION PROCESS

The Sponsor’s designated representative will select three winners at random from all eligible entries. You must be following the @StarbucksCanada Twitter account. Odds of being chosen as a selected Winner could depend on the total number of entries and the speediness of replies. The Sponsor will Tweet and post the names of selected entrants from the Twitter account @StarbucksCanada after the Entry Period between Monday, January 28th, 2013, 9:01 p.m ET and Tuesday, January 29, 2013, 12:00 p.m. ET.

Before being declared a winner, the selected entrant must respond to the assigned account via Twitter or via direct message acknowledging the acceptance of the Winner Prize (see below) as awarded, and answer a three-sector mathematical skill-testing question. The selected entrant must also complete and a Contest Release Form. The winners must have RSVPed and including the hash tag #BlondeRoast in their response.

If the entrant does not acknowledge the acceptance of the Winner Prize and answer a three-sector mathematical skill-testing question before Friday, February 1st at 2:30 p.m. ET, the entrant will be forfeited (and will forfeit any right to his or her Winner Prize) and the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to deem the next eligible entrant to be a selected Winner.

The Winner Prize will be delivered to an email address of The Winner’s selection by the Sponsor. The Winner Prizes must be accepted as awarded and is not transferable or convertible to cash. No substitutions are permitted except at the Sponsor’s option. If any Winner fails to claim the prize within the specified time; then he or she will forfeit their Winner Prize.
